What Does Your Front Door Say About You?

Not all doors are created equal. While the right door serves as an inviting entrance to your humble abode, the wrong one can seem out of place and offputting.

Yet with so many different styles of doors to choose from, it can be hard to go about selecting the right one. That’s why we’ve consolidated some of the top types of doors.

Keep reading to learn about some of the different kinds of doors, and how to go about choosing the right ones for you and your home.

Sliding Doors

Are you looking for a minimalist looking door with clean lines? If so, consider taking advantage of sliding doors. These operate on a track, meaning that aside from looking sleek and contemporary, they also won’t take up any space.

People often use sliding doors to open into large spaces, such as backyards and patios. You can also use them for other rooms, such as closets and pantries.

Paneled Doors

Paneled doors are one of the most common types of doors. They feature a wooden frame with shutter panels made of wood, hardwood, plywood, or another similar type of material.

Some modern paneled doors use glass, but traditional wood is still the most common option.

French Doors

French doors give your home a très classique look. They come on hinges, meaning that you can open them up on either side. French doors allow huge amounts of light to enter a room while keeping things classy.

You can use them to open out to the outdoors, or to a more formal area of your house, such as a dining room.

Dutch Doors

While most people are familiar with French doors, fewer people know about their European cousin: Dutch doors. However, odds are that you are familiar with the concept.

Dutch doors are split in half horizontally, allowing the top, the bottom, or both sections to be opened. They’re great for pets, as well as special areas of your house, such as the kitchen.

Fiberglass Doors

If you want the look of a wooden door without having to worry about maintenance or upkeep, consider opting for fiberglass. Aside from being easy to maintain, fiberglass doors are also super durable.

After you install a fiberglass door, you can stain or paint it. Check out Kitchenin to see some of the many different color options. You can use fiberglass doors in both the interior and exterior of your home.

Different Kinds of Doors for Different People

Whether you’re designing a new house or redecorating the one that you and your family are currently in, the right door can have a big impact on your home’s aesthetic. Make sure to choose the right kinds of doors that are both practical and in line with the vision you have for your home.
